Japan has established a postal system in the Meiji era.
Japan adopted the British system.

When I look at the high ceilings on the first floor of JR Kyoto Station, I feel like myself are in a future spaceship.
If you look at the Kyoto Station from the outside, it does not look like the spacecraft.
If you come to Kyoto and visit the JR Kyoto Station, please try to look up at the ceiling from the first floor.
How do you feel?
Mid-January, I went to Tochigi Prefecture, where parents live.
I bought the station lunch at Tokyo Station, and ate in the car of the Shinkansen.
It's a station lunch of "Wappameshi". On top of the rice, shrimp, chicken, eggs, mushrooms, and such as lotus root.
They're made by Japanese style.
If you travel by train through Japan, good to enjoy "Ekiben ", the station lunches (^_^)
Most of the cold has struck Kyoto in this winter.
In a night as this night, "Kasujiru" will fit.
Its soup is made by lees of sake.
It looks white.
The photograph is Kasujiru eaten in the previous Japanese food store.
Tonight, I made a simple Kasujiru myself.
Because I ate (or drank ?)it, my body became warm(^-^)
Snow in Kyoto I saw for the first time this winter.
Today it's very cold.
There is also troublesome to snow but there is also a good thing. Shrines and temples are decorated with snow, and the scene is also great. It is a fun of snow day in Kyoto.
"Itasha" is a car that cartoon characters are drawn to its exterior.
People can see it occasionally in the city but it is frequently exhibited at the pop culture event.
The photograph is Itasha that I saw today in Nikko. Megu of Vocaloid was drawn to the car.
My heart moved.
Foreign tourists has considerably increased in the last few years in Kyoto.
Yesterday, there was such a thing.
Three foreigners had been stopped in Kyoto Station underground mall. It was like looking for something.
I said to them, "Can I help you?"
Then, the woman said, "bathroom".
I guessed that they would be looking for the bath and inn.
One of them said "toilet".
So I was reminded. "Bathroom" also means toilet.
I guided them to one nearest toilet. They said to me, "Thank you!"
In Japan restroom is called the "toire"(toilet) or "otearia".
I misunderstood "bathroom" (^_^)
It is the mild winter in Japan.
In Kyoto if always I look at the snow, but this winter, I have not seen snow once.
The photograph is a large doll snowman that I saw the other day in Osaka.
Snowman is called "Yukidaruma" in Japan.
I felt the likelihood of winter by looking at "Yukidaruma" (^ - ^)
