Lid of the manhole in Japan

In Japan, you can see the cover of various manhole. 
I had no interest in the lid of the previous manhole. 
However, I get to know foreign visitors pointed out the diversity, and now I also consciously to see the manhole cover. 

Photo of the manhole is seen in Hyogo Prefecture Ashiya. 
I like this design. 
It is a composition that the sea is visible through the branches and leaves of pine.

Japan is an island nation. 
Scenery of blue pine, sand, sea has been popular since ancient times. In addition, Ashiya is a deep relationship to the "Tales of Ise" in the classical literature. 
Hero "Ariwara Narihira" visites the sandy beach of Ashiya in the story.

This manhole remind  "Tales of Ise" of me in the use of traditional scenery. This is a great expression!
